Basil Chicken Burger

Grilled chicken burger with cheese and vegetables in a salad bowl
A grilled chicken burger drizzled with basil sauce crowns a colorful salad bowl.

There’s something lovely about bringing a platter of homemade burgers to the table, especially when they’re filled with fragrant basil and sweet roasted red peppers. These protein-rich chicken burgers bring those flavors together with savory onion and a gentle hint of garlic for a fresh take on burger night. Mixing the ingredients and shaping the patties yourself is part of the pleasure, with every burger made from ingredients you know and choose. Finish with a drizzle of basil sauce, then tuck into a crisp lettuce wrap or serve in a burger bowl. Easy enough for a busy weeknight and just as welcome at lunch, this is homemade cooking with plenty of flavor and a little everyday joy.

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • ½ cup fresh basil, chopped fine
  • ½ cup roasted red peppers, chopped
  • ¼ cup onion, grated
  • 2 teaspoons of Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup almond flour

Process

  1. Combine the chicken, basil, red peppers, onion, almond flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl and mix well. Form the mixture into four equal portions.
